Lots of wind today, but on the beach it was reading around 25 knots. Not
enough for my 4.5m, I still don't have a 5m, so I had no choice but to rig
my big 5.6m sail. Once on the water it was fine, well-powered ll the time
and maxed out out the back, but that is the way it should be.
I had an excellent time with loads of backside wave-riding and some nice
big jump After an hour or so the wind filled in a little and so I came in
for a rest and flattened off the sail as much as I could. Once again this
was perfect. The waves out the back had picked up now with some nice mast
high faces at times so I was glad of the extra power and had to use all the
skills in my repertoire to get out through them at times.
All the rain we have had lately meant that there was a lot of water moving
about as well and at times it smelt as though I was sailing on fresh water.
never a time to relax out there as the wind, waves and currents were
keeping me on my toes.
The wind continued to fill in and after a few nice little crashes I decided
it was probably time to quit whilst I was ahead. I measured the wind and it
was now a solid 30-32 knots with gusts up to 38 knots.. Can't beleive I was
still hanging on to my big sail in those winds.
Lovely!
